Planting some herbs

Even though we live in an apartment without the possibility to grow a lot, it’s not an excuse to not grow anything at all! As mentioned before, we have salads and tomato plants at our balcony. Getting our hands on a number of clay pots on a second hand site, it was time to plant som herbs to have in the kitchen as well!

Planting some tasty basil.

It’s so delicious and so nutritious to have fresh herbs available, but unfortunately we find it a bit difficult to keep them alive… Any tips? This time we went to the garden centre to buy the plants instead of the supermarket that we have tried before. Hopefully, that will make a difference.

Our avocado plant and some new, fresh herbs.

We bought rosemary, basil and parsley. At the same time, our avocado plant got to move to a larger pot. The two small pots contain seeds of pot marigolds, that aren’t only pretty but also edible.

Apart from the eatable aspect of growing food one important aspect is also the physical and mental health benefits that comes with the handling of dirt with your hands. Some beneficial dirt bacterias are always nice and it’s truly meditative to care for your plants.

Neo tries to help.

Happy growing,

Cecilia & Magnus

  1. I’m having the same problem! I planted rosemary, mint, parsley, cilantro, and lavendar. Everything has died except for the lavendar that I planted in it’s own pot. The rest of the plants I planted in a pallet all in organic soil and they died 😦 I’ve given up and just sticking to cactus! lol
